Overview

Masters students enroll in a 3 credit hour graduate level workshop which can be used to fulfill the International Business Elective Requirement. The International Business Experience (IBE) occurs at the end of May, after the Spring semester and before the start of Summer I.

During the Spring semester, students attend several class sessions which deal with orientation to the trip, and discuss the countries and organizations which will be visited.

During the trip, time is scheduled for "open travel," typically after the first week in Geneva, Switzerland.

Each year the International Business Experience involves different venues. In past years, the Geneva portion of the IBE has included visits with the International Red Cross, the International Labor Office, the World Trade Organization, the International Trade Center, Proctor & Gamble, Nestle Corp., and the Swiss Exchange, the World Intellectual Properties Organization, as well as visits to Chillion Castle and the United Nations. In France, the Paris site visits have included IBM France, AXA, and the U.S. Embassy. Cultural visits were made to the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, and the Palace of Versailles. Finally, students travel to Strasbourg, France where visits have included the European Parliament and Timken (in Colmar). The schedule for the upcoming IBE is currently under development.
