Language study can give job candidates a significant edge in a competitive market. Students who major in foreign language studies pursue careers in teaching, technical and commercial translation, interpreting, international finance, tourism, marketing, civil service, or business and educational administration. The broad training that language majors receive in world cultures also provides an excellent background for advanced study in history, philosophy and law. Students majoring in Latin or Classics have found successful careers in education, law, business, museum services and the ministry.
