Academic Year 2004-2005
New interim director
In 2004, the School of Communication Studies invited Dr. Stanley Wearden, professor of Journalism and Mass Communication at Kent State University, to serve as interim director. For Wearden the invitation was an opportunity to encourage interdisciplinary spirit among the schools in the College of Communication and Information. He brings a strong academic teaching background in journalism and mass communication as well as communication studies.
Exciting opportunity for communication students
Organizational communication students at Kent State have an exciting opportunity to hone their newly-acquired skills in a real world experience.
The art of communication was celebrated during the spring term, when the School of Communication Studies held its annual Communication Expo at the Kent State Student Center. Under the direction of Dr. Robyn Parker, the April 7th event began with the opportunity for communication seniors to display a collection of their best scholarly work in the form of a senior portfolio.
An impressive table display at Homecoming Extravaganza 2004, furthering partnerships and collaborations in the College of Communication and Information, and preparing for the National Communication Association Conference are sure signs that the School of Communication Studies and the Communication Graduate Student Association (CGSA) are promoting the diversity and excellence which define the Communication Studies program at Kent State University.
