'Going Places with JMC' is 2003 Homecoming theme
Raffle, awards, buffet are huge success; almost 100 alums attend

Homecoming 2003 was a huge success!

With the theme of "Going Places with JMC," almost 100 JMC alums met at the Rusty Nail in Twin Lakes to enjoy a buffet dinner, a short awards program, exciting raffle drawings, and an excellent local cover band that included JMC's Ben Whaley.

The major award again this year was the William Taylor Award, and it went to veteran Dayton Daily News sports

reporter and 1962 graduate, Hal McCoy (shown at left, relaxing after dinner). He has covered the Cincinnati Reds for more than 30 years, longer than any other baseball beat writer for any one MLB team. Hal was inducted into the writers' wing of the MLB Hall of Fame in July. JMC secretary Sharon Marquis and adjunct faculty member Margaret Garmon were honored with Friends of JMC@KSU Service awards. President Lori Cantor made the presentations.

The major fund-raising event this year was a multiple raffle drawing, and it netted about $2,700.

Winners of the major raffle items were:
