JMC director named Interim Dean of college
Jeff Fruit will serve as head of the College of Communication and Information until a permanent replacement is found for Jim Gaudino, who was named president of Central Washington University. Prof. Greg Blase is Interim Director of JMC.
2009-10 JMC scholarship application available
The application deadline for student scholarships for next academic year is Feb. 13. Scholarship awards are based on professional promise, grades and need. Download the application from the JMC Scholarships page.
JMC programs win PRSA East Central awards
Kent JMC has won three PRSA East Central District Diamond Awards. Public relations students won for their 'Do It Now' program, aimed at increasing the number of organ and tissue donors in the Ohio Organ Donor Registry. Tthe project also won first place in Ohio college competition. (Read more) The "YouToo: Social Media Boot Camp" also won a Diamond, as did the "Hit the Ground Running" campaign for the school. Prof. Jeanette Drake headed up both of those projects.
JMC faculty edit, publish in latest RCET journal
Joe Murray was guest editor of the current issue of the Journal of the Research Center for Educational Technology. The issue focused on media convergence and digital story telling. Candace Bowen and Fred Endres had articles on scholastic journalism censorship and converged newsrooms in the issue. Read them
