To care about and contribute to the quality of life, well-being, and wellness of individuals and families across the life span. We value a holistic perspective that includes nurturing and fostering physical, intellectual, emotional, and social dimensions of human life.
The School's programs in Gerontology, Hospitality Management, Human Development and Family Studies, and Nutrition and Dietetics advance this mission through excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, community outreach, and industry, agency, and professional partnerships.
Consistent with Kent State University's mission statement and strategic directions, FCS faculty are committed to:

Students and quality teaching are top priorities in the School of FCS. We have the reputation of providing students with excellent advising and professional training. Enrollments in each of our undergraduate and graduate programs are at all time highs with approximately 800 students enrolled in the School FCS.
