WARNING: PhotoStory has one really significant limitation, file size. If the PhotoStory project exceeds an "undetermined" file size limit, the project becomes corrupted. Documentation states that there is a limit of about 80 images but this is significantly reduced based on the number of effects applied to slides or the format of audio used in the presentation. We've noticed projects that exceed 5 minutes in length often have this problem. Our recommendation... SAVE OFTEN USING DIFFERENT FILENAMES each time you save. That way, if the PhotoStory project becomes corrupted, you can reopen an earlier "version" saved under a different filename to recover most of your work. You can also create the PhotoStory in shorter segments, exporting each segment as a separate Windows Media Video, then open all the shorter segments in Windows Movie Maker to assemble them as one long video.

Use this tool to extract audio from just about any format video file to an MP3. This is particularly useful when creating projects in Windows Movie Maker. After completing the editing that requires the use of both the video audio track and music tracks (for narration). the completed "movie" can be saved as a Windows Media Video file, then have the audio "ripped" from the video using the Video MP3 Extractor. The extracted audio can then be put into Audacity and mixed with music. Finally, the mixed music and "narration" tracks can be inserted back into the WMM project, replacing all the audio.

The SMS just installed over 70 Gigabytes of music on a music server, making it available at all workstions for use in multimedia works for classroom and internet use and distribution under a limited licensing agreement (see below).
One of the great features of this music is the software that is used, Sonic Fire Pro. Sonic Fire Pro allows music to be "composed" from "basic" genres, styles, moods, instrumentation criteria to fit any specified playback time. It even allows the creator to generate different "moods" within a composition to allow for different types of coordination with other audio elements, like narration or sound effects or with visual elements in a move or powerpoint presentation.
AND..... most importantly....IT"S EASY TO LEARN AND USE!!
For a preview of how Sonic Fire Pro works, visit the company's demo/tutorial website at: http://www.smartsound.com/sonicfire/demos/index.html IMAGE: This is a link to another web site
Ask about Sonic Fire Pro for creating music at the SMS Help Desk.Licensing Limitations:
The limited licensing does not allow use of the music for major theatrical feature films exhibited in public commercial theaters or as part of a national televised broadcast, as defined by broadcast in more than five (5) states and in more than one single major market without obtaining additional licensing. See the Licensing Agreement available in SonicFire Pro software for more detailed information.

Monkey Jam is a digital pencil test program for Windows or on a MAC running Windows in BootCamp. It is used for creating 2D animations by capturing images form a webcam, camcorder, or scanner and assemble them as separate frames into an animation. You can also import images and sound files already on your computer. Although it's primary intended use is to capture images to create "cells" for traditional animation, it can also be used to capture 3D objects or cut-out images for stop motion style animation or use "clay-mation" techniques. The finished animation can then be exported as a video file.
